About The Hanbury

A former Coroners Court, Morgue, and place of execution, The Hanbury sits atop ancient Templar tunnels and a powerful leyline intersection. The original hanging beam remains visible at the cellar entrance.

Now home to Tracey & Nigel Turner and their haunted object collection, the site is renowned for both its history and intense paranormal activity. Featured in numerous media stories, visitors and staff report phenomena such as icy temperature drops, object movement, and unexplained sounds.

Paranormal Activity

The most dominant presence at The Hanbury is believed to be a shapeshifting Elemental Spirit, commonly referred to as an “Imp.” Documented activity includes its appearance as a dog-like, pig-like, or small humanoid figure, often seen bounding across the Victorian Parlour roof or captured on SLS cameras near "Hangman’s Landing."

Other documented spirits include:

• The Old Crone/Witch

• Freddie, a Victorian boy

• Emily, a young woman surrounded by children

• Mary, said to be buried in the cellar

• Rob, a mischievous gentleman spirit

• The Holy Man, thought to be a monk

• The Quaker Gentleman spirit

• The Stable Master, William the Cobbler, and several residual spirits from the building’s coaching inn days

Common occurrences include objects being thrown, voices, footsteps, and giggling children.

Unique Features

• Real coffins remain in the original cellar morgue

• Leylines, Masonic Hall, and ancient Templar tunnel connections

• Documented energy triangle formed between the Hanbury, the church, and the Masonic Hall
